Why I Write?
Some recent tweets made me think about turning your hobby into a job, my relation with #ttrpg's, and this last year, when I started publishing some of my stuff, on my own and for others.
I've always dreamed of living as a writer, fiction or RPGs, but life made other turns. I'm well employed in the oil industry and, from the leaks I've seen, I already make similar $ to WotC top management. It's not a viable career change for me.
This means I don't need to be in the rat race, going after every gig opportunity that shows. I can focus on very personal projects and challenges. So my focus is on Velouria, my indie darling, and A Colonia, my fantasy heartbreaker.
It doesn't mean I can't or won't do #dnd. Just that, when I do, it's because I want to add something that I miss, that I want to use in my games. In Cloudhost, I was trying to see if I could do investigation better. In Corruption, how I handled choice and skill challenges. In Twilight, I tackled travel and meaningful random encounters.
So, all my projects are passion projects. I charge for them because money is nice and I want to compete fairly with people that are trying to make a living. You can bet that in any of my products, I'm pushing some boundary.
